Together we work to define and promote best practices and to share ideas to help enhance the effectiveness and value of conducting research using agile mobile resources. We strive to foster education and open communications not only among members but also among vertical industries as well as  respondents who we engage in research studies including shoppers, consumers, and business professionals.

Together, we connect the dots between qualitative, quantitative and passive data by sharing
data collection and analytic approaches using advanced mobile and IoT technologies. Our purpose is to help marketing professionals understand how to use new and emerging mobile technologies to reach B2B and B2C audiences so they can better engage participants and bring the  consumer, shopper, customer and employee experience to life.

The MMRA invites anyone with an interest in using mobile devices for marketing research (whether your interest is focused on quantitative, qualitative, passive or internet of things) to join us in shaping the future of this emerging industry.

MMRA History

The MMRA was founded in 2011 by Mark Michelson and Jasper Lim. Following the 3rd Market Research in the Mobile World (MRMW) global conference in Atlanta.

During this conference there was much discussion around creating an organization to focus on the emerging mobile market research industry.  They felt there was a need to create an indepedent organization dedicated to the mobile research industry to address the many complex and ever-changing issues associated with it.

MMRA is celebrating it's 6th anniversary in 2017. We are proud of our many accomplishments to date including co-creating professional standards for privacy and ethics with ESOMAR, conducting over 40 hands-on workshops at conferences worldwide, establishing partnerships with 8 trade associations and 8 conference organizers, continuing to provide resources to promote the acceptance and value of using mobile devices in conducting marketing research.

MMRA Structure

The Mobile Marketing Research Association has a unique structure that allows action and discussion beyond the traditional committee structure of a trade association.

The MMRA is organized to allow members to interact and provide input on their own terms in an asynchronous manner, without endless meetings or burdensome board member responsibilities of typical trade associations.

Within this structure, committee work is vital to the ongoing growth of the MMRA.  We are all busy with our own businesses, and we understand that your time is valuable. This website and our various social forums allow for open collaboration, idea-sharing, and debate among the industry which positively contributes to our members and mobile marketing research in general.

The MMRA offers  the following opportunities for member involvement and engagement:

  • Advisory Board
  • Committees
  • Regional Representatives

If you would like to be involved with any of these volunteer positions, please contact Mark Michelson, Executive Director

Advisory Board

Our Advisory Board has members from around the world who represent various sides of the mobile marketing research industry including research agencies, consultants, technology developers and clients. The Advisory Board, creates the strategic plan and provides guidance and support to committees. The board meets several times a year to develop the strategic plans for the association.

Committees are volunteer groups that work together on important industry initiatives. Committees include:

  • Professional Standards and Ethics
  • New Technology
  • Membership
  • Events/Education
  • Communications
Each committee has two chair-persons who guide and work together with their committee members to create programs, educational materials and promotions for the benefit of all members. Committees generally meet as needed to further the goals of the committees.

If you have an interest in serving on a committee, please indicate the committee(s) on  your application or member profile.
